There is something wonderfully disproportionate about this scene. A simple wooden bench rests against an enormous wall of stone, surrounded by boulders that seem to dwarf everything built by human hands. Even the substantial bench suddenly feels small here, tucked into the landscape as though someone simply found a quiet space between the giants and decided it needed a place to sit.
The wet pathway adds another layer to the photograph. Its soft sheen, the saturated greens and the weathered surface of the wood give the scene that unmistakable stillness that settles in after rain. The path curves away and disappears behind the rocks, leaving just enough unanswered to make you wonder where it leads.
But it’s the scale that makes this one. The bench gives those massive rocks something familiar to measure ourselves against. Without it, they’re simply boulders; with it, you suddenly understand their size. And there it sits beneath them—quiet, sturdy and completely unbothered—offering a front-row seat to something that was here long before the bench, the path, or any of us.
