In Lauterbrunnen, the scale never quite feels reasonable. Villages settle into the valley beneath sheer walls of stone, church steeples rise among gardens and rooftops, and old wooden barns stand in fields that have been worked for generations. As evening settles in, the valley floor slips into shadow while the last sunlight catches the highest peaks — a final streak of gold thousands of feet above the quiet life below.
