Sometimes the horizon doesn’t stretch across the distance. Sometimes it’s reduced to a sliver — a small opening at the end of everything closing in around you.
That distant patch of light changes the entire perspective. It gives the eye somewhere to travel, pulling it through the narrow passage and toward whatever might exist beyond what the frame allows us to see.
