High above Kandersteg, Oeschinensee sits beneath a massive wall of the Bernese Alps, its turquoise water fed by snowmelt and mountain streams cascading from the peaks above. The scale is almost deceptive in a photograph—the lake looks enormous until the mountains behind it remind you just how small everything else really is.
