The Nesso

CREATE

Nesso is one of those places where the landscape seems to have dictated everything that came afterward. Stone houses rise directly from the edge of Lake Como, narrow stairways climb between them, and an old arched bridge crosses the gorge where the hidden waters of the Nesso waterfall make their way toward the lake.
From the water, the waterfall itself can disappear behind the village, but its presence is still written into the scene. The bridge, the steep passageways and the buildings crowded against the ravine all seem shaped by the water moving behind them.
A lone boat drifting in the foreground completes a view that feels almost untouched by time—a small Italian village built not simply beside the landscape, but into it.
