From ground level, the Swiss Alps can feel almost impossibly vertical. Wildflowers crowd the foreground while chalets scatter across the hillside, then the landscape suddenly rises into forest, exposed rock and a jagged wall of mountains. It’s the kind of view Switzerland does almost unfairly well — ordinary life continuing beneath extraordinary geography.
