The two paths run beside one another, identical in construction but committed to opposite directions. One rises toward the light while the other disappears below, separated by only a few feet of steel and circumstance. Life works much the same way. Progress and setback are rarely as far apart as they seem. We spend years measuring ourselves by whether we’re moving up or falling behind, forgetting that direction is temporary. The ascent changes us. So does the descent. And perhaps the strange comfort in it is this: whichever direction we’re traveling today, somewhere beside us the other direction still exists.
